30 going on 13

Okay so I am a Dermologica freak! I use the cleanser, exfoliator, masks, toner, moisturizer and sunblock among other things. If it says Dermolagica on the bottle I will find space for it in my beauty regimen. So you can only imagine how I felt when I had run out of my moisturizer! Worst of all I ran out right before the Santa Ana winds picked up!! If you do not know what wind can do to your skin let me explain. As wind blows (just like your blowdryer that "dries" your hair) the wind sucks out every ounce of moisture from anything that it passes by! Skin, hair, dirt, trees, and so on! Now don't get me wrong, I do enjoy the wind. In fact I am amazed at how creative God can be with it. Have you ever noticed that nearly every time it rains shortly there after it gets windy, and voila all those mud puddles are all dried up!! So back to my point I was without moisturizer AND it was windy!

My next dilemma? I am a hairstylist (obviously;) lol) and although incapable of getting Dermologica at a discount on my own being that I am not at a salon that carries it, I am capable of getting it from friends at discount prices. Well for more then one reason it was not working out. Which is normal and usually I plan ahead for this, but this go round I lacked good planning. So for one reason and another and another... I was without my moisturizer for a period of about three months. I hate to admit it but I was using anything under the sun to moisturize my face. Hand lotion, relaxation lotion(not the dirty kind haha), body lotion and so on.

Then the Hair show came along! My chance to make it right! Dermologica has a booth at the Hair show every year and they sell at a discount price to anyone attending. I was so excited! I bought my active moist and went on my merry little way :)

I came home that night and I was back to my normal skincare regimen. Washed with cleanser, exfoliated with daily micro foliant, this particular night I used my multi vitamin power firm mask(which is Amazing in case you were wondering), and to finish oh yeah you guessed it Active moist moisturizer! So tell me why two weeks later I am breaking out like I am 13 again!!. Hence the reason for my post.I want you all to know why this happens, that it will go away and it will be okay.

Any change in product will change the Ph of your skin, but even more so when I went from bad product use that did not exfoliate the dead top layer off my face, that created a build up of dead dry skin. I looked tired old and winkled. It stopped the breaking out because my little pimples could not make it through this brick wall that I had built. Then as I went back to my "good quality" product it really does its job, exfoliating dead dry skin keeping you looking young and fresh! Over the last few weeks I have worked hard at removing that wall that I built, but of course as I did all the nasty, dirty stuff this wall has been holding back and hiding is now being processed through. It is not easy. I want to rush it and pop my pimples! But I know if I do this, if I rush it, this will only create more damage and possibly leave scars. So I have to continue with my proper skin care regimen and be patient as I process through all this crap! But as a licensed beauty professional I know what I am going through is just a faze it will be over soon.

Funny as I wrote that last part it reminded me of a recent time in my life where I decided to break down some walls. You know everything I said in the previous paragraph could almost all be applied to walls we build up in life as we work on taking them down all the crap starts to flow out but you have to be patient and have faith that it will all be okay. It cannot be rushed if it is it might leave a scar.

So as I continue on with my skincare in hopes that this mess will soon go away, I hope that this can help even one person understand a little bit more about why we feel like we are 30 going on 13 when we change out our skin care products! Hope you,ve enjoyed my little tid bits. Thanks for reading! LT
